Daylight and seasonal travel
Moves are not routinely permitted from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise. Maine also publishes holiday and seasonal weekend restrictions that must be checked for the movement date.
Maine Turnpike
The Turnpike has separate authorization and limits. Maine's 2026 notice lists 13 feet 6 inches total height and 14 feet 6 inches total width on the Turnpike.
Municipal roads
A Maine BMV permit covers MaineDOT-jurisdiction roads and bridges. Town or municipal permission must be obtained directly when the route uses locally controlled roads.
